Negotiators meet with director of mediation

NFT Is Cautiously Optimistic That Third Party Involvement Will Be Helpful

LANGHORNE, PA (September 6, 2012) — William Gross, Director of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Mediation, attended this evening’s negotiating session between the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers and the Neshaminy School District – the 50th negotiation session between the two parties since January 10, 2008.

Mr.Gross participated in the session at the request of Bucks County Court of Common Pleas Judge Robert O. Baldi.

As the NFT anticipated, Mr. Gross conducted lengthy separate meetings with both parties throughout the course of the evening. During those meetings, Mr. Gross thoroughly reviewed both parties’ differing perspectives on the history of the protracted negotiations and the myriad issues underlying the dispute that is now entering its fifth straight year. A variety of potential strategies for reaching the goal of securing a settlement were discussed. The Federation emphasized its willingness to consider any new approach that the Mediator may propose.

While Mr. Gross could not guarantee his presence at every future bargaining session, he did promise to make every reasonable effort to attend as many sessions as possible and to be in contact with the parties between meetings.

The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, 2013.
